A member asked:

Could the jaw pain when opening mouth be related to my wisdom teeth coming in?

Yes: Go to your dentist who will determine the source of your pain. Do not be your own dentist. Pain is the body's way of telling you that something is wrong.

Yes: Absolutely yes, however, it could be from many other sources as well. You should see your dentist to find out what is the true cause.

Yes: At the age of 51, having wisdom teeth beginning to erupt into the mouth is not a common finding, although not impossible. Jaw pain with opening can be due to a number of different causes. A thorough clinical evaluation and diagnostic x-rays would be recommended to properly diagnose your problem in order to provide any indicated treatment recommendations.

Definitely, yes: Jaw pain and limited mouth opening can come from many different sources, and the most common is the eruption of 3rd molars (wisdom teeth) or the infection that they can cause. See an oral surgeon for evaluation and wisdom teeth removal.
