On average, how many teeth should an adult have and when do molars start growing?

32: A full adult dentition is 32 teeth. Many people get their wisdom teeth removed so then there would be 28. There are times that a wisdom tooth, a lower premolar or an upper lateral incisor may not form. There are 3 molars. The first molar is usually the first adult tooth to erupt. On average around age 6. The second molar comes in around age 12 and the 3rd molar (wisdom tooth) around age 18.

Number of Teeth: A normal adult dentition is 32 teeth total. There are many variations because some people genetically are missing teeth. The incisors start to erupt around 4-5 years of age along with the first permanent molar. The premolars can start as early as 8 years. The canines around 11 years and the second molars around 13-14 years. Wisdom teeth can start at 17 years and may get stuck. These are averages.
