Pain med, rest: The routine treatment would be to limit activities especially heavy lifting or sports typically the fracture will heal over 6-8 weeks but most of the severe pain is alleviated in the first 2-3 weeks.

VCF Older: For any low energy fracture, nonsurgical treatment is fine. Allowing increased activity as pain allows is the answer. The first 3 weeks are toughest with decrease in pain as the bone heals (which it does 70% of the time). Osteoporosis eval is mandatory to prevent more fractures. Kyphoplasty is an excellent and fast solution if pain persists or worsens.
