I had a foot operation (part-amputation) a couple of weeks ago and the morphine just isn't helping the pain. what can i do?

May be more involved: You probably have some degree of vascular insufficiency as well and there is quite a bit of pain involved with ischemia. See your doctor to find out if this is the case. There are other combinations of oral pain medications that may help, including some that can be used topically. Pain management is an art and there are also doctors who specialize in just that. A referral to a specialist may help.

Have it evaluated: The pain can be due to poor circulation, infection, or a condition called phantom pain. Consul with your physician and discuss your pain management options.
