A member asked:

What causes the tissue around the sclera of the eye to turn yellow?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

High bilirubin: Yellow eyes(sclera icterus) are generally a sign of jaundice caused by a buildup of bilirubin in the blood. The build up could be due to serious diseases and conditions that cause liver damage or dysfunction, blockage of the bile ducts, gallbladder or pancreatic disease, stone or cancer.
