Is it safe for children to have vision therapy?

Yes but . .: Vision therapy is an unproven mode which has failed to show any success in the few clinical trials that have been done. Most vision therapists in fact refuse to join such trials as they are doubtful of the results of what they perform (and charge high fees for). It is in fact safe and mostly harmless except for the cost.

Useless, but safe: Vision problems can interefere with learning, but do not cause dyslexia or learning disabilities. A neurobiological deficit in processing the sound structure of language, a phonemic deficit, causes dyslexia.Effective therapies like lindamood bell improve phonological awareness. No scientific study has shown that vision therapy, eye exercises or tinted filters/lenses are effective. See aap.Org.
