Yes maybe: Metformin can occasionally work to help resume ovulation. However, when this was compared to Clomid (clomiphene) and clomid/metformin combination in a large clinical trial, it was found that it is better to proceed straight to Clomid (clomiphene) if trying to ovulate. However, metformin is not such a bad start if you can tolerate it.

PCOS: If pcos is your correct diagnosis, then metformin can help with ttc. Can't say it is the magic bullet to fix everything, but it could be a step in the right direction. There are many other steps you can take with a good doctor's guidance if this doesn't get the job done.

Working with an RE?: It's critical to work with a board certified re who specializes in pcos. He/she can best guide you towards success. Have you tried pregnitude? It helps a lot of my pcos patients (www.Pregnitude.Com). Make sure the sperm is ok. Discuss ovulation induction with your fertility specialist. I hope this helps!
