Several Signs: Soreness and pain of the jaw muscles, pain around or in the ear, inability to open the jaws widely without pain are some symptoms of tmj. It may feel like ear stuffiness and is sometimes confused with sinus problems. An infected/abscessed tooth can give similar symptoms. See a dentist for evaluate, diagnosis and treatment options.

Symptoms of TMJ: Tmj symptoms vary for everyone but there are some common issues but a differential diagnosis is needed to eliminate other diagnoses. Tmj is very complex and proper diagnosis and treatment plan is very important. Some symptoms can be pain on chewing, opening, headaches, sore neck, breaking of teeth, ringing ears, and sore muscles. Go to a dentist for proper diagnosis.

Pain and dysfunction: If the tmj/tmd issues last for awhile, some symptoms can affect the ear (s) in many ways. You may develop ringing in the ears; earaches, popping-grating-clicking that is heard constantly in the ears; roaring muffled sounds; hearing loss; on and on. It is better to see an ENT first if you have ear symptoms to rule out it being the ears as the source of the problem.
