Swelling: You need to get a diagnosis. From what you describe the swelling is putting pressure on the nerve and causing the numbness. Once the swelling is resolved the numbness will disappear over time. If it is not tooth related (infection, decay) then it may be one of many aggressive cysts that will need to be removed. Have your teeth moved? Are any impacted? Pls see a pathologist 4 2nd opinion asap.

Cranial neuropathy: Sounds like the mental branch of the trigeminal nerve is afflicted. Return to your doctors and get more testing. Hard to say what is wrong, but many potential problems can present this way.. Might check for ptoblems in the nasopharyngeal area.
