Horse chestnut: Horse chestnut may diminish the inflammation related to varicose veins and thus improve symptoms. It will not prevent or eliminate varicose veins. I use it for patients with chronic venous changes.

Horse chestnut value: This supplement can help relieve symptoms that are caused by varicose veins, but it does not do anything to resolve varicose veins or prevent more of these veins from developing. Symptoms relief with this supplement is usually improvement in leg discomfort & decrease in tissue swelling. In my experience it works fairly well for symptom relief. Main known side effect is possilbe nausea.
