Yes, but not much A: Vitamin a is important for the visual health of your baby but too much in early pregnancy is hazardous- women taking more than 10, 000 units in the 1st 7 weeks had a 1.7% risk of birth defects. 4000 units is safe & beta carotene is safe in any amount. A relatively high dose of 4000 units vit d has been shown to reduce gestational diabetes, preterm birth & other pregnancy complications-see comment:.
