Labor?: Some bleeding from cervical effacement and dilatation is expected as you approach your due date and enter the early stages of labor. Other causes, however, can also lead to vaginal bleeding at 38 weeks: vaginitis, cervicitis, placenta/vasa previa, abruption. Please see your obstetrician as soon as possible to evaluate this further - and best of luck!
