Depends...: Probably could walk on it right away, with protection. It really depends on where the bone was broken. A lot has to do with what soft tissue may have been damaged based on the mechanism of the fracture. Most people get along well due to the fact that the fibula bears only a small portion of the weight - the vast majority is on the tibia. You may be inconvenienced to varying degrees though.
