When plaque bacteria are not completely cleaned from your teeth, the byproducts of their "living" on your teeth causes an inflammation in your gums and with inflammation comes increased blood flow. There are some systemic diseases that can cause bleeding gums as well, but it's usually dental plaque. Check with your dentist for an evaluation.

Time to see your DDS: You need to see a dentist to perform a thorough examination and work out a treatment plan for you. You may need a thorough cleaning, better oral hygiene.
