How common is it for a 30 year old to develop a cataract and what is the treatment?

Uncommon: But not unheard of. Do not have surgery unless your vision and activities are affected by the cataract. Slow progression by using ultraviolet protection such as a hat and/or sunglasses!

Uncommon: Very uncommon at this age to get cataracts, but it can happen for no reason. Probably 1 in 5, 000 chance for it to happen spontaneously. Possibly may be caused from trauma, or medication you take. Treatment is surgery when it affects activities of daily living.
