Vague: Need a thorough history and exam. You may be clenching or grinding or grinding the teeth, which can result in possibly biting your tongue. See a dentist first and then hear what suggestions he/she has. Tongue pain can also come from some vitamin deficiencies or reaction to some meds.

Get diagnosis: Get examined. Some disorders with tongue and jaw pain can be serious problems. Start by seeing an oral & maxillofacial surgeon. If he determines problem is TMJ related (jaw joint), see a TMJ specialist. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask for referral.
