Maintain oral hygien: Maintain good oral hygiene. Warm saline rinses may be beneficial. Your pharmacy may also have over the counter remedies. All ulcers should be checked by a professional if they remain after 7-10 days to rule out any serious conditions.

Ointments: There are several prescription ointments for canker sores that sooth and heal. There is also an ointment called kenalog (triamcinolone) in orabase that acts like an oral bandage to soothe and protect. You should consult your dentist. The cause and frequency is very important. Need a good history and may need a culture or biopsy if it won't resolve.

Keep it clean: Keep it clean to avoid bacterial infection. Use orajel or chloraseptic spray (benzocain topical) for comfort. Avoid sharp, crunchy and spicy food (tacos, chips, spicy) to avoid trauma to the area. Low level laser therapy or laster biostimulation will help speeds up the healing. The lesion usually resolves on its own and treatment is palliative.
