500 less than usual: Eating your usual diet will maintain your weight or cause you to plateau. To break your plateau you must decrease your calories for a time period, usually 1-2 weeks. For example, if you usually eat 2200 to 2000 calories then you need to decrease your caloric intake to 1500-1800 calories for a few weeks only if cleared by your physician. No strenuous exercise during this time.
