Ignore, Pop, Excise: This is a benign skin lesion-like a blocked oil gland-thick, cheesy grease is encapsulated in a membrane. If it gets infected, it needs to be drained and removed. Unless you surgically remove the entire lesion, skin pore and membrane, it is likely to return eventually. Excision is quick and easy-in the office, with just local anesthesia. Stitches come out in about a week. Leaves a small scar.

Infected?: Abx will NOT cure a sebaceous cyst. They can help clear the infection and surrounding cellulitis that can occur when the cyst becomes infected. .... but not the cyst itself. The cyst needs to be removed if bothering you. If not bothering you can be safely watched.
