Mouthrinse: The best treatment for halitosis is to determine the cause and remove it. Halitosis could be the result of mouth bacteria (gum disease, tooth cavity, poor oral hygiene), sinus drainage, or even gastric reflux. An alcohol-free mouth rinse will help to treat the symptom (bad breath) but only temporarily. For a more permanent solution, get the decayed teeth filled or extracted.

Brush well: Good, gentle tooth brushing after every meal and use of a mouthwash like listerine can help disguise this problem. Remember this is only a temporary patch for the halitosis, it does not address the true problem. You must get these teeth fixed asap or you risk pain, infection and tooth loss. Untreated badly decayed teeth can also lead to other major health issues.

No: If the halitosis is coming from the decaying teeth then the halitosis will not be resolved until the decay is removed.
