Hemorrhoidectomy: Pain after hemorrhoidectomy may last for 2 to 3 months after the procedure. Warm water sitz baths a few times a day and after bowel movements will help soothe the pain. There also creams which can help reduce the inflammation and pain. You should discuss these options with your surgeon.

A few weeks: Generally the worst pain is only a couple of weeks, but very important to keep the bowels soft and use sitz baths, gentle hygiene (soft wipes and creams) for at least a month to allow complete healing. If pain persists, make sure the surgeon looks for an anal fissure as this may happen.
