A member asked:

If you have a partially clogged carotid artery, how often do you need to get it checked?

Once a year: Typically an annual ultrasound is what is done for patients with known carotid artery stenosis / narrowing. Sometimes when i first meet a patient and their narrowing is more advanced, i may shorten the interval to 6 months.

Depends: Depending upon the degree of stenosis the typical time range to have the carotids checked is very six to twelve months with a duplex ultrasound.
