Having had achildhd trauma, i've an over exaggerated startle response. now i see my child has this response. he hasn't had trauma.could he inherit it?

Normal variation: People react to abrupt events in different ways. We have built in reflexes of fright and flight that can be over developed in some. Others are too passive and slow to react. This is normal variation. Startle reaction may just be a normal variation that does run in your family. Use it wisely and teach your child to control and use it well.

No: No, but your child's reaction to things may be a reflection of how you react and deal with stress. You should try and remain calm at all times, thus demonstrating to your son how to keep your cool in the face of adversity. If you over react, you may teach your son to do the same. Good luck.
