A member asked:

When trimming my toenails about two weeks ago, i cut my big toe nail very short now i see a pink line. could it be bacterial endocarditis or trauma?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Local infection?: I wouldn't think endocarditis based on that. But it could be a local infection. When we cut nails too short; or pull off too much, we can tug some skin out with the nail, leaving a cut that can allow for the introduction of bacteria.
