A member asked:

I'm over 45 and pregnant. what are my chances of delivering a healthy normal baby?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

More likely than not: Your risk of having a chromosome defect with conception @ 45 is > 1/100.To that number you must add the 4 % risk of unexpected outcome that any mother faces (clefts, prematurity, etc) there may be other family factors from either side a genetic counselor could help determine.Even with all this lumped together, chances are you can have a healthy & wonderful baby. Your OB can help you sort it out.
