Did not help: Ice pack might decrease the inflammation but not the infection. You need to have dermatologist to give you antiviral like Valtrex (valacyclovir) to stop the virus asap.

Yes: Yes. Ice will help with swelling. Make sure you see your regular doctor to start appropriate treatment (antivirals).
