At a time?: Episodes can last seconds to hours, depending on cause and level of inflammation, diet, position. Antacid may give relief within minutes. If underlying issue, may continue to have heartburn occasionally or continually for months or longer (not advised-see md). If risk for heart disease, be aware that can mimic. Decrease coffee, tobacco, alcohol, fried, spicy, fatty foods, mints, citrus, big meals.
