Highly variable: No single answer for this one unfortunately. Firstly, some reflux is normal. It becomes a disease if it is damaging your organs (esophagus, vocal cords, lungs), or causing unacceptable lifestyle changes. It can last years, or only occur over a short period of time, say during a stressful period in life. Hope this helps!
