Upper airway cough: It is likely that you are having upper airway cough syndrome, formerly named postnasal drip. A viral cold or allergies causing your runny nose and some of the mucus is dripping in back of nose tickling the throat which triggers your cough. Try some otc antihistamine (benadryl/zyrtec) to dry out the mucus and use delsym (dextromethorphan) for cough for a few days. If no improvement, consult doc for eval. Good luck.
