MCP joint inflamed?: The area you point is the joint area between the proximal phalange of thumb and the head of 1st mc bone. Stiffness could be due to strain / sprain of the supporting structures around the joint like ligaments, joint capsule , tendon inflammation without injury to bones . There may be a small crack fracture , partial / total dislocation of jt. Need to see ur dr, get xray.Do hot compress, pain meds.
