27wk premature did not have rds when born, shall use curosurf (poractant alfa)? diagnose bpd after 60 days w/o using it under invasive ventilat, is it a misdiagnosis?

Premature lungs: Bpd which is a form of chronic lung disease which affects mostly premature infants. Bpd is caused more from the treatment of their immature lungs - oxygen and ventilation than from the diagnosis of rds. Most premature infants will receive Curosurf (poractant alfa) - surfactant after birth because this is lacking in their lungs. This can be used to prevent further lung issues not just for rds.

Possible: At 27 weeks, the lungs are still developing and not producing sufficient surfactant. Curosurf (poractant alfa) is used to prevent collapse of the lung and to allow better ventilation. Even if the premature lung disease was mild initially, there may be a diagnosis of a more chronic form of premature lung disease called BPD. Is the baby wearing oxygen? With growth, the lung will grow new units
