A member asked:

I have bpd, one of the symptoms being depression. some days it's so bad i don't want to get out of bed. is medication an option or not?

Depends on severity: Standard of care treatment for BPD I includes a combination of medication AND therapy. Tx consists of 3 phases: acute, improvement & maintenance tx. If you are experiencing depression or mania (in the absence of substance use), then acute treatment for BPD I is indicated. Why? b/c patients with BPD I have an increased risk for suicide esp DURING the depressive episodes. I urge you to seek tx.
