Fill it: If a tooth has decay, it should be removed and filled.

Fill it ASAP: All cavities start small... 1 surface of decay. The cavity spreads which results in 2 surfaces of decay. If left untreated the decay continues to spread & becomes a 3 surface cavity. Then it moves on to a 4 surface cavity. It becomes too large to fill the decayed area & a crown is needed. Deep cavities also can lead to root canals. Best to treat the 1 surface cavity & avoid crowns & root canals.

Don't feed the germs: The bacteria that cause decay thrive on sugar; regular snacking does a great job of growing cavities. If it hasn't reached the "point-of-no-return, " you can hit the brakes via diet control plus any recommendations your dentist has for reducing risk further such as Fluoride or xylitol products. Discuss specifics with your dentist, don't snack on sugar, and pay attention to systemic health.

Depends: How developed are the cavities? If they are incipient then i suggest good oral hygiene: brushing well, flossing properly, rinsing with Fluoride rinse and visiting ur dentist. Ur doctor may treat your teeth with sealants and prescribe toothpaste with a higher Fluoride content and suggest how to improve your hygiene technique. Do your best and be well.

Prevention: You must not allow sugary products to allow plaque or bacteria in your mouth to get together very long. The use of floss and brushes help. Fluoride and demineralization pastes help prevent decay as well.
