Does it hurt getting a cavity?

Not at first: A tooth has to be badly infected to hurt. At first there is no sensation at all. It does not hurt to have the tooth fixed because the dentist will first numb the tooth before fixing it.

Cavities: Early formation of cavities do not cause any pain or sensitivity. Depending upon the location of the cavity in the tooth and an individual's pain threshold, one might be aware of some problem early or very late in the development of cavities. I'ts easy and routine for a dentist to make the tooth numb so there is absolutely no discomfort involved in repairing the tooth.
