What is the likely prognosis of diabetic macular edema if it blur my vision?

Depends: You must see a retina specialist. Diabetic macular edema (dme) is treated with focal laser, intravitreal injections (avastin, lucentis, (ranibizumab) triamcinolone, triescense, ozurdex, etc.), and sometimes vitrectomy surgery. Prognosis depends on severity and duration of untreated disease.

May worsen with DM: As far as prognosis, the more the sugar levels are elevated and the longer they stay elevated, the greater the risk to each macula (centers of vision). If vision is being effected, it is critical to meet with both your ophthalmologist and primary care physician to create a plan to help as soon as possible. Following the hemaglobin a1c blood test can also be helpful to document better control.
