Is 'teething' associated with fever?

Nope: Many have thought that teeth can cause a fever...Not true. Teeth causing irritability and some discomfort but not a fever. A fever is almost always related to a viral infection in young children. It is not to say they couldn't have both at the same time but do not discount a fever as just part of teething.

Yes: Babies can have fever associated with teething. Usually teething can occur from 4-8 months old.

Nope: Contrary to popular belief, teething does not produce fever. Viral and bacterial infections do. There is little treatment for a virus other than treating symptoms. Teething aggravates children and is uncomfortable but does not cause fever. They can have a fever and be teething but really they are two different things.
