Narcolepsy?: There are basic symptoms that are considered as the core problems in the diagnosis of narcolepsy. Two of these are hallucinations as you fall asleep, and episodes of sleep paralysis. Sleep attacks and cataplexy are others. Dims (disorder of initiating and maintaining sleep) can also be associated. A thorough sleep evaluation may be appropriate.

Don't know: There is no way a forum like this can sort this out. Talk to your gp. He/she will take a full history, do an exam, order appropriate tests and refer you to a specialist if needed.

I agree with your: Discussing your symptoms with your primary care physician. If you have delayed-onset sleep, hypnogogia (hallucinations or peculiar sensory experiences during transition to sleep) & daytime drowsiness, you'll probably be sent for a sleep study to determine diagnosis & the best methods of treatment. It's important to do, both for your safety while driving & to improve your quality of life.
