Ringing & paralysis: does not usually go hand in hand with so called "stage arousal disorders of sleep" or typical narcolepsy The combination of loud ringing in the ears associated with transitory sleep paralysis might be due to an evolving sleep disorder but other conditions must be excluded including basilar migraine, seizure disorder and periodic paralysis. Polysomnography, EEG and consultation are advised.
