Try magnesium oil: Magnesium oil applied topically to skin gets into the muscles and can reduce muscle spasm. If you use heat first, then apply the magnesium oil and then gently stretch you may be able relieve the muscle tension. Sometimes acupuncture can help, too. Also look at what you are doing. Workouts with lots of repetitions may be contributing to the spasm. See if 25-oh vit d3 is low.
