See your MD: To better control your asthma, first try to understand what the usual triggers are and avoid as possible. Often colds or viral infection cause the worst exacerbations. Allergic exposures can be a problem in many patients. Next take medication regularly. The person with symptoms 2-3 times/week should be on a daily asthma preventative med, not just a rescue inhaler (albuterol).

See doctor...: If your asthma is now out of control, you should see your doctor to evaluate what is now triggering your symptoms so they can be treated. You need a bronchodilator as well as steroid inhalers minimally and other treatments depend on etiology of your asthma exacerbation. If you develop acute shortness of breath, go to the er for evaluation and treatment.
