Dr. Nikolaos Zacharias answered

Specializes in Maternal-Fetal Medicine

Depends.: If isolated (i.e. Not hydrops) fetal ascites may still be a harbinger of life-threatening fetal hydrops (immune or not), associated with urinary tract anomalies, fetal infections, lymphatic malformations, cardiac defects or chromosomal aneuploidies. Treatment depends on the diagnosis, which may be elusive prenatally. In general, isolated fetal hydrops is monitored and delivered at term. Mfm care!
