Why the CT's?: If you have some condition requiring the ct's, you have to get them. But then you should not get ct's "electively" or if there are other alternatives such as mri's. Your doctor needs to know you have had 4 ct's in the last 5 years before ordering another ct.

Weigh risks/benefits: There is quite a bit of radiation exposure with ct scans, so they should not be done lightly. Whether or not to have future cts depends on why you are having them. If you have some potentially life threatening condition that requires periodic ct scans, it might be worth the risk. Only have them if you really need them. See http://bit.Ly/t1rbrc.

Too much radiation: Ct scans use radiation. Many are done with high intensity with multiple cuts and lots of radiation exposure. Newer ones are limited with less radiation. Young brains are very vulnerable to toxic effects from radiation - especially children. Try to limit the exposure.
