What is an ERCP?: Ercp=endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. This is an endoscopic test by which a small catheter is inserted into the papilla (opening of pancreatic & bile ducts) from the duodenum, thru which radiographic dye is injected. X-rays are taken to image the bile & pancreatic ducts. The technique permits stone extraction, sphincter enlargement, stent placement, more.
