GI doctor: It is typically a gastroenterologist who does ercp's. It is pretty rare that a general surgeon will do an ercp.

NO: Some surgeons do endoscopy procedures, but this is an advanced type of procedure that is generally done by a gastroenterologist. You may encounter a rare general surgeon who is comfortable doing this procedure, but it's not common.
