Complex: Suggest working closely, with an occupational therapist, as he/she can design adaptive devices to improve function. You are close to a famous rehab center, chicago rehab, and am sure there are orthotists and therapists would can design exercises and coping skills. Have found pool therapies to be valuable in these areas. Best of luck.

OT & PT: Ot is for upper trunk, shoulder girdle & upper extremities, pt for lower core, hips & legs. Their purpose is to maximize function, given abnormal tone & strength; if hypertonic, to increase range of motion & prevent joint contractures. Botox is used sometimes for joint contractures. If hypotonic, to increase postural security & improve the quality of motor movement & sensorimotor processing.
