Could be both..: If the eyes hurts after three hours, it is likely that the contacts are becoming tight on the eye. This might improve with a different size lenses or different lens material. It may be that your eyes are dry and though the lenses fits fine initially, they become dry and start to cause discomfort. See your doctor...
