Diagnosis: In order to treat your pain definitively you need to see the dentist to make an accurate diagnosis. Once you have a diagnosis they may recommend what type of treatment is needed to relieve you pain. For short term discomfort if you have no contraindications, Ibuprofen may be helpful.

Dentist: Only an xray can determine the cause of the pain and the best course of treatment. If you cannot get to a dentist, a doctor may be able to prescribe antibiotics but the tooth still must be treated by a dentist to resolve the problem. Try tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprophen if you have no problems taking them and apply an ice pack or moist heat to your face. Good luck.

See a dentist: Your dentist can examine your teeth and mouth for lesions, cavities, infections, gingivitis or fractured teeth. Get treated soon to prevent the lost of any teeth.

It depends...: The cause of the pain needs to be determined. This is best determined by an examination and perhaps by x-rays. Please see your dentist.
