Is it normal to have problems swallowing after having your wisdom teeth extracted?

Depends: If you are having trouble swallowing hours after an extraction you need to call your dentist, especially if you were sedated. It is normal for swelling to occur after an extraction and this can make swallowing difficult. Some people complain of excessive drooling too. This goes away in a couple of days. If within 48 hours of extraction try an ice pack. Try heat if it's been 2 days since surgery.

Can be : Lower wisdom teeth can have all sorts of challenges during healing. Depending upon the position and technique, the tissues on the inside of the jaw near the throat can become very swollen and cause difficulty swallowing. Make sure to ask your surgeon if you are concerned.
