Yes: One of the functions of saliva is constant flushing of the teeth and oral tissues to remove any food debris. This prevents bacterial buildup which is responsible for dental decay. Additionally, salivary enzymes also have anti-bacterial properties which also prevents decay.

Yes: Saliva offers protection against cavities. It buffers the acids produced by the bacteria which cause cavities. If you have a dry mouth you do not have this protection and are more susceptible to tooth decay.

Yes: People who have illnesses such as Sjogren's or Mikulicz's that destroy the salivary glands get lots of cavities. If the glands need to be radiated in the course of cancer treatment, the teeth are often removed simply because they will decay very rapidly if left in place.
