Sent to Pathology: All organs or tissue removed during a hysterectomy or any surgery for that matter are sent to the pathology department. There, a pathologist will dissect the specimen(s) and evaluate the tissue for disease, cancer, etc. Once finished, a report with the findings is generated by the pathologist and the specimen is eventually discarded.
